Shooting Star Scholarship 2017-2018

In an effort to support higher education within the White Earth Nation, Shooting Star has founded the Shooting Star Scholarship, to raise money for scholarships to be awarded to White Earth members and descendants seeking post-secondary education. Download an application form here.

A limited number of $1,000 scholarships will be awarded. To be eligible, each student must meet the following criteria:

2ND ANNUAL SHOOTING STAR SCHOLARSHIP GOLF TOURNAMENT RAISES OVER $25,000

Hosted by Shooting Star Casino, Hotel and Event Center, proceeds from the tournament benefitted the Shooting Star Scholarship Fund, which supports higher education in the White Earth Nation

MAHNOMEN, MINNESOTA (June 12, 2013) – Over $25,000 was raised at the 2nd Annual Shooting Star Scholarship Golf Tournament, which took place on June 7, 2013, at the Mahnomen Country Club in Mahnomen, Minnesota.  All tournament proceeds went towards the Shooting Star Scholarship Fund, which raises money for scholarships to be awarded to White Earth members and descendants seeking post-secondary education. Shooting Star is proudly owned and operated by the White Earth Nation. More than $7,000 additional scholarship funds were raised this year. 

Nearly $16,000 in prize giveaways were presented to winners of various hole contests, on-course contests, and overall team contests, such as the golfer with the longest drive, the longest putt, closest to the pin, landing his or her ball on the green off the tee box, driving a whiffle ball for distance, and more.

The tournament included 36, three-person teams, 18 holes, and prizes offered for the top finishing teams in each division. Special recognition given to Gold sponsor Visions Inc./ROI Solutions/Buffalo Nickel Creative; Bronze sponsors J&M Printing and Konami Gaming; and Par 3 sponsor Cadillac Jack. Golfers had a chance to meet and golf with the stars of the tournament, including Rickey Young, former NFL running back for the Minnesota Vikings, Juan Berenguer, former MLB pitcher for the 1987 World Champion Minnesota Twins team and Autry Beamon Former NFL corner back for the Minnesota Vikings. A dinner and awards ceremony was held after the tournament at Shooting Star Casino, Hotel, and Event Center.
